If you’ve come here looking for the original version I can sincerely say you’re better off without it and suggest you take a look at the many other versions/clones that have been released since then.
There is a new clone of Tetris that’s actively worked on also titled BBTetris, note that we (myself, enduserguides.com, blackberryguides.com, blackberryhowto.com) are in no way associated with this.
History
Back in 2005 there wasn’t a single version of Tetris (free or paid) released for the BlackBerry and I wanted to play this game while commuting on the bus each morning, so I set off on a quest to resolve my non-Tetris commute by getting Tetris onto the BB. After a bit of research I opted to modify some existing j2me code to better support BlackBerry’s of the day rather than write the game from scratch.
I wasn’t intending to release the game as it had issues with key-mapping and some of the game’s basic mechanics like the drop-speed not incrementing enough from level to level but after frequent requests from some coworkers and the online community I finally relented and posted it on blackberryguides.com.
This was never a good implementation of the game and I simply didn’t have the time to fix issues or improve it, so when I received a request to remove it due to trademark/copyright issues I was more than happy to comply.
Since then I notice this old version still pops-up from time to time, please stop the Tetris abuse and remove any downloads to this old version you may have on your site.
If you see the original version of BBTetris in the wild I’d love to know where, please email me at webcontact@enduserguides.com.
